I Said Yes to Life Again — At 56

(And I’m Just Getting Started)

At the start of 2025, I made a quiet but powerful decision:
To say YES to life again.

Life was already pretty good… but the lingering effects of Covid, the rollercoaster of menopause, and a house full of teenagers — quickly followed by two of them leaving the nest — made me pause and reflect.
Something had shifted. And I realized: something needed to shift again.

I didn’t want to stay stuck in “fine.”
I wanted to feel fully alive again.
So I did something about it.

I began showing up for myself in new ways:

  • I signed up for surfing lessons (finally).
  • I committed to a personalized, consistent workout routine.
  • I adjusted my already-healthy diet to what actually works for me now.
  • I faced midlife fears that had crept in over the years (skiing was one of them).
  • I started working with a coach to stay on track and accountable.
  • And I began saying YES to invitations, activities, and events that brought me out of the house and back into the world.

The result?

I feel more energized, fit, and motivated than I have in years.
I’m making real progress.
I’ve discovered a fresh sense of purpose — and a new appetite for living life to the fullest.

And the best part?
I know I’m just getting started.

What about you?

If life has felt a little flat…
If part of you wonders whether it’s too late…
If something in you is whispering that there’s more for you out there —

Then let this be your reminder:
It’s not too late. You’re not behind. You’re just beginning.

Sometimes all it takes is a quiet yes to begin again.
